Radiculopathy: The common causes of bilateral upper back pain are musculoskeletal and referred nerve pain called radiculopathy from underlying vertebral or spine disease (e.g. osteoarthritis, compression fracture or nerve entrapment). Based on age and other risk factors it rarely could be a manifestation of underlying heart or lung disease. Talk to your PCP for a Neck- Thoracic spine X-ray and ECG.
