Depends: It depends on what type of hernia and technique of repair and anesthesia. It also depends on whether or not you are taking narcotic pain medication. In general, wait until the anesthesia wears off, and you are no longer taking narcotic pain meds. Check with your surgeon to be sure. Hope this helps!
