A member asked:

Does selenium treat parotid cancer?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: If you read the literature from the 'alternative and complementary medical community', selenium is either 'very good for you' or 'very bad for you.' it's a naturally-occurring element, you need some of it to live, a great excess can make you a little bit sick, and it won't touch cancer. These promotions give an undeserved bad name to the serious study of nutritional supplements.
