Not necessarily: Dexilant (dexlansoprazole) can be taken at any time of the day without regard to meals. However if you are taking it after meals and is not working for you should try taking it before meals and see if that produces better results. Dexilant (dexlansoprazole) does not work immediately like some other heartburn medications so you should use it daily for at least a few weeks before deciding if it works or not.
