Look for: Look for a shoe that has a wide and deep toe box. Consider a material that stretches (like lycra or mesh). Look at the seams because those sites are areas that "stretch" in the shoe. Also, consider looking at the shape of the sole and find a straight last shoe. Bunions and flat arches tend to be overpronators and a straight last shoe is less likely to promote that motion.

Roomy and supportive: Wears shoes that give you room in the area of the bunion deformity. Most people with bunions will find a shoe that is stiffer and with good support to be the most comfortable. Alway try them on before you buy. Don't purchase a shoe unless it is comfortable the first time you try them on. Dr l.
