Depends: I underwent cervical arthroplasty in may, and i was able to do push-ups until the very end. If the technique is solid, posture neutral and 'planked' the stress on the injured disc is minimal. I used exercise to maintain my physical stature and measure my response to conservative therapy. An inactive lifestyle wasn't an option and exercise was my measure on choosing surgery.
