Can pelvic floor muscles get weak and make constipation ?

Depends: Drs view the pelvic floor muscles as the sling that prevents you from leaking poo or pee. It is not as important as the intestinal muscles in constipation. The circular tube of large intestine has donut like circular muscles that help push stool along. If you fail to empty what you make the backup can balloon the intestine wall & make it weak. Empty daily more than u make & it can rehab itself.

Maybe: Pelvic floor muscle weakening can contribute to constipation or make it worse. A thorough evaluation as to the cause of constipation is necessary to rule out tumor and other treatable problems before assuming it is due to pelvic muscle weakness. If the latter is confrimed, pelvic floor reconstruction is an option done by a specialist with experience.
