A member asked:

What happens if i can't find a suitable health insurance plan by jan 1 2014? do i have to pay a fine?

We all work together: Insurance means everybody chips in so that there is a pool of money to pay for each person's illnesses. It works when everyone comes together and pays into the fund, and when only a few people are ill at any one time. There is a fee (to encourage everybody to participate, because we all get sick at one time or another) for not having insurance in 2014. Maximum fee for 2014 is 1% of one's income.
