A member asked:

Does health insurance pay for over-the-counter medicines?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Varies by insurance.: It all depends on your insurance company. Some insurance plans cover over-the-counter medications. For example, in california, medicaid covers things like generic tylenol (acetaminophen) and Motrin without any co-pay. Private insurance plans may be different. Usually the best way to find out this information is through the insurer's website. Sometimes finding the info is hard, however, even for doctors!
