Severe GERD: Can be associated with a laringitis and a pharyngitis. Most probably you wake up at night during sleep with coughing and acid taste at your mouth. Avoid food like tomatoes or tomato sauce, acid fruits and juices, coffee, sodas, chocolate, alcohol, spicy and fatty food, broccoli etc. Avoid eating late a night specially large meals, try 6 smaller meals a day, loose weight, avoid tight cloths.
