Ganglion cyst: What you describe sounds like a ganglion cyst. Those usually get better on their own but sometimes they can be a sign of a joint problem in the wrist that could need treatment. It's reasonable to give it time, but if it continues to bother you get in to see a doctor.

A common bump on: The back if the wrist is a ganglion cyst which can be painful. Other bumps are bone bumps called carpal boss. Calcium deposits or gouty deposits are known as tophi. Any of these can also irritate adjacent structures. Tendonitis or tenosynovits, tendon inflammation can present as a soft bump.
