Yes: Gastric by-pass and surgery to correct a hiatal hernia are two different surgical procedures, and are not mutually exclusive with regard to prevention/elimination of recurrence of disease.

Yes: Yes, but unlikely. Symptoms from this may include difficulty swallowing, chest pain/pressure, and possibly regurgitation. An upper GI contrast study and maybe endoscopy needed to make the diagnosis. If it gets too bad, contact your surgeon for a follow up visit.

Hiatal hernia: Yes. Even if your hiatal hernia was repaired during your gastric bypass, it can occur again. An EGD or upper GI will show if you have one.
