After healing...: The two main reasons to reconstruct an acl ligament are to restore stability to the knee and allow for return to sports/activities and to try to prevent arthritis by minimizing further meniscus and cartilage injury. After successful surgical technique, enough time for the graft to heal, and adequate return of strength, you should be able to return to the field!

Yes!: It is so important for overall health to be active, so being able to get back "in the game" is such an important part of your overall being. Certainly, if you were mostly sedentary before the injury, it may be better to pick other sports, in general it is a great idea to attempt a return.
