Protect that kidney : Uti needs to be treated promptly. A urine culture is desirable, specially if you get infections often. Your provider may consider prescribing a long term antibiotics to suppress new infections.

Need antibiotics: If you have one kidney and have a uti, you should be treated with antibiotics. Three days of either Bactrim or Cipro (ciprofloxacin) (provided you are not allergic) should do it.
