No. : Geographic tongue is a normal variant.

No: No it is not. It has been associated with several disease but it is not considered an autoimmune disorder.

Geographic Tongue: The exact cause of geographic tongue is not known. There are some theories about a genetic link as it tends to run in families. As people who have psoriasis also tend to get geographic tongue there is a possibility of an alteration of the immune response, but again, nothing has been proven.

No: Geographic tongue is a not a serious problem. Normally the lesions move around and that is why it is called geographic.

Mystery: Geographic tongue is quite often a mystery that may appear after stress, meds, supplements, nutrition, etc. It is usually no a problem unless pain occurs where some rinses may help.

Geographic tongue: Exact cause for geographic tongue is not known but has been seen more commonly in psoriasis cases and has bene associated with diabetes, anaemia, asthma, allergies and stress.
