URI=upper respirator: We used to think/claim that color of phlegm was determined by whether upper respiratory illness (URI) was caused by virus or bacteria. If it was green, yellow, brown, nasty colored, you needed antibiotics whereas if it was clear or white, you didn't. As it turns out, that was just a myth. In fact, color and taste tell us nothing about root cause, just that you're sick. Average duration = 18d.
