Blepharitis: It sounds like blepharitis, inflammation of the eyelid. Your body's natural oil builds up on the edge of your eyelid around the lashes. Normal bacteria eat the built up oil and then secrete a toxin which irritates the eyes and eyelids. Hot compresses and removal of the oil through a special cleaning technique called lid scrubs helps. Sometimes antibiotics and flax seed oil are necessary.
