No: Each person who elects plastic surgery will have their own set of reasons. Certainly some will include reasons of becoming more attractive in their own view and thereby raising their self esteem which may not have been low to begin with. It's everyone's business what they do - try not to judge.

Personal need motive: Aesthetic surgery is to make normal better. What defines need should be the patient's concept of form for balance and beauty. The lack of self esteem results when a patient seeks surgery because others tell him or or her to have surgery and not because of a true vision of improvement for the sense of one's own concept of harmony.

Not necessarily: Many people choose plastic surgery for a variety of reasons, some to look better, some to give them a boost of confidence. It is not directly related to self-esteem or self-worth these are supposed to be internal concepts of our self-concepts.

Usually not: Many people choose plastic surgery to look and feel better. There is concern when people choose plastic surgery thinking it will correct problems in their life because it will not. Just like people exercise and lose weight to improve self appearance people chose to have plastic surgery to improve there appearance. A plastic surgeon will discuss with you your reason for desiring plastic surgery.
