Yes, but...: Once an individual has reached 18 yrs of age medical decisions are guarded by hippa regulations that make a medical record confidential. It's still wise to deal with parental acceptance of surgical plans openly whenever possible.

It's up to you: Good plastic surgery doesn't have to look plastic. If you have a discussion with a board certified plastic surgeon and are honest about your goals, they should be able to give you an accurate prediction for what to expect. Your profile says you are 42, so this doesn't apply to you, but i wanted to add that for anyone else who is under the age of 18, you will need parental consent.

Yes: As long as you are 18 years old you do not have to let your parents know about your plastic surgery. In fact hippa regulations protect your privacy.

If...: If you are above the age of 18 you will not need parenteral consent to undergo plastic surgical procedures. Otherwise, best to communicate your concerns and goals with your parents in an open/honest fashion. Best wishes.

Not a good idea: For a young person under 18, it is not only inadvisable but could be illegal to have a medical or surgical procedure performed without parental consent. Both physical and emotional maturity are important considerations.
