Several points: Usually non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents raise systolic and diastolic blood pressure measurements by only a few points, but some persons are more sensitive to this side effect. I'd try to stop the Mobic (meloxicam) and use Acetaminophen (up to 3 grams/day unless you have liver function abnormalities) and see if your blood pressure returns to your normal.

It can: It can. That is why it is so important to check blood pressure (and other issues) a week after starting, a month later and at 3 month intervals.
