Intensive Care: Not necessarily. It all depends on how well the ill person is able to keep the heart rhythm and oxygen saturation at levels that are safe.

NO ,: Isolated collapsed lung due to pneumothorax , most of the time do not need ventllatory support once water sealed chest tube is inserted ( other devices ) , unless has associated with other major injuries.

Not necessarily: A pneumothorax does not always require hospitalization, and certainly not mechanical ventilation. The key is how well the patient is doing - some frail respiratory patients might need much more aggressive treatment than someone with a simple pneumothorax but preserved lung function.
