Not 'normal', common: Sometimes after trauma to the scalp, you can get pockets of blood that collect under the skin of the scalp, called hemotomas. These can calcify as the body slowly absorbs. There are more nerves in the scalp which can be stretched beyond their normal position, causing them to fire. This causes pain, especially with the high amount of friction that the scalp endures. This can take several months to resolve.

Injured: What was the mechanism of your injury? Did you sustain any facial trauma to your four head or scalp? If so this may be either scar tissue or possibly embedded foreign debris. If it is car tissue this will eventually flatten out. If it is debris it should be removed.
