YES: It is not at all unusual to have RA with a negative rheumatoid factor- this occurs 20-30% of the time and even more often in early ra. Yes: 1/4 of RA patients have negative rf. Rheumatoid factor is just one indicator. Ra is a clinical diagnosis made by a rheumatologist. Although you may have ra, you are more likely to have other collagen vascular diseases like lupus with + ana; that have arthritis associated with them. Must see a rheumatologist.
