A member asked:

Can pinguecula be cured if caught early enough and do they ever go on there own?

No: Pingueculae are deposits in the conjunctiva which are degenerative and related to exposure to wind, sun, dust, etc. While they don't go away on their own they usually cause no problems. Rarely they can get inflamed, which can be treated with topical steroids, and rarely they can cause mild irritation, which can be relieved with artificial tears. They can be removed surgically.

No cure needed: Pingueclua are a normal response to wind, dust and uv light. They are the eyes defense in the middle years to these external forces. They have no symptoms and are usually unnoticed. There is no cure as the eye grows them naturally as a defense response. They will eventually fade in older life as outdoor exposure diminishes
