Stage 2 hypertension: Your patient's BP is > 160 mm of mercury, that is called stage 2 hypertension. Pt with hypertension of that degree are at increased risk to develop heart and kidney failure as well as strokes. You husband needs to see a physician to start hypertensive treatment as soon as possible. He also needs to reduce weight, stop cigarette smoking and control his diabetes, if he has any of those risk factors.
