Define lv impairment: Do not use abbreviations! if lv impairment is left ventricular impairment(that is what i understand lv to be), then you should do walking as the best form of exercise. Start slow and go for half to one mile for one week, then gradually increase pace/speed and later increase the distance to 2 and ultimately 3 miles a day. That would do you much good and can strengthen you heart.

Left Ventricle?: If this is what you meant, 2nd is work on aerobic exercises, e.g. Just walking (and some stairs) to start. Work this into your life, little advantage to gyms. But 1st is optimize NMR particle test, hba1c & BP with combo of acei/arb agent plus Coreg (carvedilol) (avoid other beta blockers, poor track record by comparison), and titrate to low nl bps (e.g. Sbp ~110 mmhg sitting, resting) & still feeling ok.
