Depends: Depends on the types of exercise, is it stationary bike, elliptical, swimming, aquatic, weight lifting, walking or long distance running. Long distance running exercise causes runner's diarrhea

It can: This is a well observed phenomenon, particularly with endurance athletes/runners. This exercise induced diarrhea is felt to be possibly be related to low blood flow to the gut, as blood is shunted(diverted) to the muscle .. a variant of ischemic colitis!
