Why is my laceration reopening after stitch removal?

Consult your doctor: If the laceration is reopening, you should consult with your physician. Some minor separation may be acceptable, but any significant reopening of the wound should be evaluated as soon as possible.

Early removal: If the laceration is deep, it may require deep suturing along with skin or under skin(subcuticular) suturing to avoid scar widening.

Thanks for asking!: The placement of sutures deep to the skin surface depends on the location and extent of the injury. Removing the sutures prematurely in an area that is under tension may lead to separation of the edges, even with minor trauma. It takes 3-4 weeks for healing at the skin level usually.
