Boils: What people call 'spider bites' are rarely spider bites; they're usually abscesses (boils). The cause is usually staph. Aureus, including mrsa. Antibiotics like tmp/smx (bactrim), clindamycin, and Doxycycline can be helpful at the early stage, but by the time a boil has formed, they often have to be opened and drained.
