A member asked:

If you have a small cut and it gets infected, can it be treated with antibiotic cream? will it usually streak if it spreads.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sometimes: There are different degrees of infection. If the wound shows a little redness at the periphery you should be able to treat it with a topical antibiotic. However, with more redness, swelling, pain or warmth you should see a doctor. Streaking of the redness away from the wound would be a sign of a more significant infection that would also need medical attention.
