Yes, But.: But still check with your doctor. Also, if you do, take with a very small sip of water. Some doctors don't want you to take anything that can cause you to vomit/aspirate which can be very problematic.

Possibly: It may be acceptable to take vicodin before surgery, but this should only be done in consultation with your surgeon.
