Can a 90 year old take paxil (paroxetine) cr?

Maybe: They might be able to take it, but Paxil (paroxetine) is the most sedating of the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (ssris) in general so even if i thought a medication like it was needed i would almost certainly not pick paxil (paroxetine).

Yes: Anti-depressant medications are commonly prescribed in the elderly population and used with good effect and safely. A cautious strategy of prescribing is usually recommended and many doctors give the lowest possible dose to start.
