A member asked:

Can a lot of salt flare gastritis? i have to take salt tablets and chicken broth for pots but every time i do i get gerd/gastritis

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not salt: It's not the salt - it's swallowing water (the major constituent of broth). Water is a known trigger for acid reflux. During upper GI series, the dr will often have the pt drink water to look for reflux on fluoroscopy. Agents that inhibit acid production are often effective to prevent or reduce this.
