Yes and no: Yes these are usually placed in a gyn office. But there are many other practitioners that are likely able to do this (nurse practitioners, family practice docs, etc). It will not move around once it is placed.

Not likely: A nexplanon`` can move out of place no matter who puts it in. What is needed is a clinician with experience in inserting the Nexplanon and/or someone also experienced in putting in the discontinued norplant, (levonorgestrel) since this device was more difficult to place properly. Properly inserted it does not not usually move out of place, but no guarantees are provided.
