A member asked:

When is it better to get a sinus ct or a nasal endoscopy exam? does one reveal more information? are they used for different purposes?

Sinus exam: Unless you've had sinus surgery, the maxillary sinus openings are somewhat difficult to see with a scope. We can usually see the sphenoid sinus openings, but the remainder are not easily visualized routinely. Further, being able to see inside the sinuses is likewise not possible. Endoscopy helps us see polyps, infection, crusts, etc. Ct shows us what's in the sinuses. They're complimentary.
