Depends: If the fracture is severe enough it may need surgery which includes inserting a plate and screws. If surgery is not necessary, a cast is applied for 4-6 weeks until the fracture is healed and stable.

Varies : It varies based upon the nature of the fracture. The three alternatives are usually some form of immobilization such as a splint or cast; a reduction and then use of a splint or cast; or a reduction with the use of some form of instrumentation such as pins, plate/screws, external fixator. Good question.
