What are some treatment options for vertebral fractures?

Simple things first: Many can be treated with medication, activity modification (such as limiting lifting). Some will find a brace useful. Vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty (injection with bone cement) is controversial. Open surgery is limited to people with spinal cord or nerve pressure.

This depends on the : The stability of the fracture, whether there is any neurologic involvement, the age of the patient and their health as well if any other associated injuries and the location of the fracture. Treatment can range from none with activity restriction/medication to bracing to possibly surgery.

Depends: It depends on the type and location of the fracture and the age of the patient. Often times, wearing a brace and avoiding strenuous activities will allow a compression fracture to heal in younger patients. In the elderly, if these measures fail, a kyphoplasty may be an option.
