Yes: Metoprolol is a beta blocker which is one of the medications used to treat or decrease the occurrence of svt. It is not the only treatment however and may not always be effective.

Many types: Metoprolol and other medications in this class will suppress the shorted circuitry that lead to SVT's. If metoprolol or other medications are not working, or not desired, catheter ablation can lead to cure. See a heart rhythm specialist for options.
