Can i take lopressor (metoprolol tartrate) during pregnancy to control my svt?

Please check with OB: Pregnancy and svt should be closely monitored by your obstetrician! Lopressor (metoprolol tartrate) would not be my drug of choice with your pregnancy in mind; would rather have prescribed an alpha-blocker...And any medication must be category b. Please check with your o.B.!

Yes, but maybe other: Beta blockers (of which, Lopressor (metoprolol tartrate) is one) are mostly category c during pregnancy. This means that there have been no studies in humans (why would any mother subject herself and fetus to such a study) but no evidence of harm. There are a few cat. B beta-bk: acebutalol and pindolol. May be better choices if can achieve control of rhythm. All choices are a matter of benefit vs risk of harm.
