Do steroids work on torn meniscus on knee?

Dr. Keith Joe answered

Yes: The question is more likely will steroids make my knee stop hurting. Torn meniscus in someone in middle age is most likely degenerative in nature, in other words a component of the arthritic process. Reality is hard to know if the pain someone is having is only from the meniscus or from the overall degenerative joint disease. But a cortisone injection may help relieve the pain.
