Usually Not: Carpal tunnel syndrome is a condition where the median nerve is entrapped in the wrist causing wrist and hand pain and/or numbness. Wrist splints and possible decompressive surgery are options if the symptoms are severe enough.

Not effective: Pain pills do not actually treat the carpal tunnel syndrome which is excessive pressure on the nerve. Treatment for this includes splints, nsaids and steroids for early and mild symptoms and surgical decompression for more severe cases.
