A member asked:

Can you hurt your sinus cavities by lifting weights?

Lifting weights: If you clench your teeth when you are lifting weights, it is possible for you to create occlusal trauma to your teeth. When this occurs the pain can seem like it is sinus related. Best would be to check with your dentist if you have recurring dental pain or sinus related discomfort.

Interesting: Not sure what prompted the question, but i would say no as long as you don't drop the weights on your face.

Weightlifting: As a powerlifter for many years i know that at maximum effort a lot of us will hold our breath as we exert ourselves, increasing the pressure within the sinus cavities, however if you dont have active infection you will be fine...And dont drop the weights on your face

Definitely, no: If sinus symptoms last longer than 10 to 14 days or worsen over time, see your doctor for evaluation.
