Yes: If there is an asthma attack the chest x-ray will frequently show hyper-expanded lungs. Between attacks, the x-ray can appear normal.

Yes: Usual complications of asthma are volume loss or atelectasis from mucus plugging and sometimes pneumonia. Between these processes, chest xray can be normal.

Usually normal: Chest x-ray is better in viewing the lung tissue but asthma involves mainly the airways bringing to air to the lung tissue. In most cases , the chest x-ray would be normal although the finding of an over-inflated lung , if present, is suggestive of air trapping which however is not unique for asthma.
