Yes: You can get cataracts just like anyone else. However, there is no relation between the use of contacts and cataracts. The only issue is that contacts, especial hard gas permeable lenses, can change the shape of the cornea (the front part of the eye), and that can affect the planning of cataract surgery. The surgeon just needs to be aware of the contact lens use.
