Sometimes: It depends on the focusing of your eyes with your lens implants. Many patients now are able to achieve freedom from glasses or contact lenses with modern cataract surgery. Nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia) and astigmatism can usually be corrected if desired. Some patients opt for implants that can correct presbyopia as well.

Not usually: After cataract surgery, most patients do not have a significant prescription and do not need contacts. If you have a glasses prescription after cataract surgery, then you can consider glasses, contacts, or laser vision correction to fix the problem.
