Research : Tmj/tmd exhibits a multitude of symptoms. You can go to websites and read up on some of the common symptoms, but a thorough evaluation by a specialist is highly recommended. Some symptoms, such as an infected tooth, cysts, and other causes may mimic "tmj." my website, www.Jbassmantmj.Com shows a symptom list, but you really should be examined to rule TMJ or not.

Yes: Yes, not a common symptom but possible. If persistent or problematic, see an ophthalmologist.

Of course: Eyelid twitching, pressure behind the eye sockets and sometimes blurry vision may point towards the TMJ disorder. See your dentist for TMJ evaluation and referral to Orofacial Pain specialist.

Fatigue, dryness: Common causes for a funny little eyelid twitch include surface irritation of the eye (such as dryness) and fatigue. If both eyes are twitching, that's something different (usually blepharospasm), and can be treated with botox. If not just the eye but the side of the face is twitching, see your eye care provider, as a small percentage of people with this symptom need an MRI to r/o a problem ...

How long has your eye been twitching? What changed before this? Any caffeine? Any adrenalin-producing medicines, over-the-counter drugs [decongestants, weight-loss supplements], herbs [ginseng, ma huang, dong quai]? Do you twitch anywhere else or have any other symptoms? If yes, then think about things that affect your whole body like hormones.

Stress, fatigue etc: Commonest cause of eye twitching is stress, followed by fatigue, sleep deprivation, stimulant use (even simply coffee). Other conditions causing eye twitching (much less often) include certain movement disorders (e.g. Tourette's, blepharospasm), focal epilepsy.
