Possibly: If there is instability with "popping" when doing daily activities, there could be concern. However, just the sound of "popping" isn't as concerning as it's just fluid shifting inside the joint. If there is pain with the "popping", please see a doctor.

Popping ankle: This could be a issue that you need to have looked at. There can be a tendon that moves around a structure (bone) and this can tear the tendon. Easier to take care of before real damage is done.
