What are the chances of good survival with colon cancer?

Depends on the stage: Stage 1 and 2 colon cancer have excellent survival rates following good surgery. Stage 3 and 4 disease have worse chances and need chemotherapy, but a number of new chemotherapies introduced over the last 15 years and the ability to successfully remove isolated tumors in the lungs and liver have increased survival for stage 3 and 4 as well.

Depends on stage: Early stage colon cancer can be cured. Colon cancer can be mostly prevented through colonoscopy examinations starting at age 50, earlier if there is family history of colon cancer.
