If you mean compared: To a prior chest xray, it could be due to infections or other lung diseases during the interval between the x-rays, leading to some scarring. Alternatively, the radiologist that read this xray may have been more impressed with some areas of scarring and mentioned it in the report, but it was there before, and not new.
