Usually Glossitis: There are many different conditions which can cause the appearance of your tongue which you describe. The general term for this type of change is "glossitis." some types of glossitis have underlying causes (poor nutrition, immune problems, etc.) and some are spontaneous. See a dentist, ent, or oral surgeon if you want to know for sure. Also, get a physical check-up to see if you are ok overall.
